Help Name My Baby!

In light of the fact that our baby is nameless, I'm hoping to get some inspiration from...well, anywhere. I would love name suggestions, pretty pretty please!

I tend to like strong and traditional names. I prefer to avoid trends, the rebel in me does not want to be viewed as a bandwaggoner. However, I will give up this principle for a name i really love. And I'm not a fan of unusual, modern names. I like old fashion, timeless names but nothing too commonplace- no Matthews! (I sacrificed this rule for my first born). I have a list of names I love.....but I just feel like I'm overlooking one.

For reference, my other boys' full names are :

Jacob Jessie
Ryan Henry*

*I feel like this name is so awesome that coming up with this name will be the pinnacle of our parenting career...and I'm having a hard time finding one as awesome.

Other names I like (not too crazy about though I could live with) that have been vetoed:

Logan
Ethan
Jonathan
Eric
Lawrence
Mitchell
Roman

  1. Ronan
    Miles

I really like Ronan. It may be climbing popularity on the charts though? It was my Irish boss's name so I may never use it. I've seen it used on a toddler boy with dark hair and reminded me of your kiddos!

Ever thought about writing to Swistle? http://www.swistle.com/babynames/ She takes questions about baby names, but you can also browse for families with similar situations for ideas.

    1. Love Daniel and Edward! But I'm not a fan of Ed/Eddy as a nickname....hmmmm.... I never liked Bradley until you mentioned it...now I'm kindof liking it! Sometimes it helps when other people ok the name :)

    2. I like the Owen and Max suggestions below! Maybe Liam, too. Also, I had a friend named Edward, and people called him Ned or Edward. It worked.

  3. I like the Brad suggestion, but I thought Jared sounded a little like a mix of both of your boys' names. I'm really loving the combination of Jared James as we speak.

Have you asked the boys? Out of the mouths of babes, and all that. My cousin named his baby sister and my brother had some input on our younger brother's name.

    1. Jared James sounds nice! But that may be too many J names if I already have a JJ. but I like both names as middle names. thank you!

  4. I always loved Spencer, but didn't get to use it. Also William, Alex, Luke, and James (or Jamie).

  5. How about Theodore/Ted/Teddy? I like the sound of Jacob, Ryan and Teddy.
    Benjamin? Jacob, Ryan and Ben.
    Lucas? Max?

Those are just boy names that I like and you might like! I second the suggestion of writing to Swistle. In addition to her commentary, you'll also get about 100 comment suggestions.

  7. One more suggestion....I contemplated naming our last baby Christian. But found out how popular it was becoming and disliked the possibility of him becoming Chris.....
Then we had a girl. Lol

  8. I love Ethan, although I think it's getting pretty popular (like top `0). Also love Luke, Sam, Jack, Dylan, Oliver.

  9. Only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is Michael. While it's common in our generation, it seems to be less common in our kids' generation... the other day when we were reading out loud, Bill kept reading it as "Michelle."

But I'm going to throw my hat in the ring for Max. Jacob, Ryan, and Max sounds perfect to me. (Maybe I'm a fan of X names.)

  10. I think everything I was going to suggest has been taken - Samuel, Daniel, Gabriel, Andrew, Nathan, Benjamin.

Oh! What about Colin? Or Alex(ander)?

  11. We had similar criteria - classic but underused, with the added twist that it should be familiar to both English- and Spanish-speaking family. We went with Victor, and I also feel like it's so badass that it's maybe the pinnacle of my parenting career.

  12. The only names I can think of that haven't been suggested (you have some great ones in this list already!) are Seth (which was going to be Eden's name if she'd been a boy... we were kind of stuck on a Genesis theme there...) and Owen (which I just think is a really cool name, and goes with Jacob & Ryan very well!).

  13. I'm loving all the suggestions. Esp Michael. Have you thought of Sebastion? Too pansy? If you want badass, I don't think you could beat Omar. That's as badass as it gets.

  14. We went with Nicholas James. It's not hard to spell, is obviously a boy's name, and it's different without being weird different. He's the only one in his class with that name. His friend at school is named Oscar. Might like that one, too.

  15. How about a K name? Kyle or Kevin.
